For many families, decorating Easter eggs is a special tradition. Last year, my now 2-year-old daughter was too young to understand the concept, but we're eager to dye eggs this coming Easter.

If you're like me and are looking for creative Easter-egg-dyeing and decorating tips, check out these one-of-a-kind spring ideas from FamilyCircle.com.

Cover your work area with paper towels or newspaper. Mix 1 teaspoon of white vinegar and 20 drops of food coloring (the more you use, the more intense the color) in 1 cup of boiling water, using heatproof bowls or jars deep enough to submerge an egg.

To create different tints, vary dipping time. Using tongs, submerge the egg in the hot water for less than five minutes for light colors, 10 minutes or more for deeper shades.

To make two-color eggs, dye the entire egg first in a light color. Let it dry for 15 minutes, then submerge half in a darker color.
