LI kids take part in the White House Easter Egg Roll

Last Easter, my family went to the White House thanks to my mom. Originally, we went to Washington, D.C., without tickets for the White House Easter Egg Roll because we were not selected in the lottery. On Easter Sunday, my mom found someone who was giving away tickets to the Easter egg roll. My family was very excited to have the privilege to go to the White House.
The day of the roll was gloomy and rainy. The rain was pouring down. The Easter egg roll day was broken into shifts. We were set to go in the 12-to-2 p.m. shift, but that meant we had to wait in very long lines for hours for all the people to come out of the earlier shift. The wait was worth it!
Once we got inside, there was music, photo ops, Easter bunnies and much more. In one area, very important people such as Dr. Ben Carson, first lady Melania Trump and others read stories to the children. It was Dr. and Mrs. Carson’s turn when we were on the White House grounds.
At the Easter egg roll, kids roll eggs with large spoons to the other side. The first one there wins. Another very interesting part of the event was set up by the American Egg Board. It taught people about the stages of an egg. There was even a chicken coop and live chickens. Nearby, there was a concert stage where different performers were entertaining the audience.
My family and I spent time looking around the grounds and taking plenty of photos to help us remember this incredible day. On our way out, we all received posters and goody bags with candy and other things. I believe that everyone should have the chance to go to the Easter egg roll to see the White House, not virtually but in reality. It was an egg-ceptional way to spend Easter.
