Family festivals in late September on Long Island

Looking for something fun to do with the kids? Late September is a great time to explore the many family festivals that take place throughout Long Island. Here are a few of them:
The Fall Family Fun Festival will run from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily at Hicks Nurseries, 100 Jericho Tpke., Westbury. The free event will feature children's workshops, pumpkin contests and more. Call 516-334-0066 for details.
There will be vendors, food, entertainment, crafts and children's games from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 27 at the free Harvest Festival on Neighborhood Road in Mastic Beach. The rain date is Sept. 28, For details, call 631-772-7867.
The Wildwood Fall Festival from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 27 at Wildwood State Park on Hulse Landing Road in Wading River will feature wagon rides, pony rides, inflatables (weather permitting), funny photos, environmental displays and children's entertainment, including a pie-eating contest. The Village Day Fall Festival will take place from noon to 5 p.m. Sept. 28 at the Sands Point Preserve, 127 Middle Neck Rd., Sands Point. Rain date Oct. 5.
