Family-friendly performances on Long Island in November

Children love watching their favorite characters come to life on stage, and there's no shortage of theatrical events on Long Island. Since many of the shows require some forethought, here's a sampling of family-friendly shows throughout November to help you plan a fun-filled day.
Freckleface Strawberry at Nassau Community College (1 Education Dr., Garden City) on Friday, Nov. 1, at 7 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 2, at 2 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 3, at 2. p.m. A musical based on the children’s book by Julianne Moore. It tells the story of a little girl with bright red hair who ultimately learns to accept herself, freckles and all. Price: $9, $6 for children younger than 18.
Not Just for Kids: Kamikaze Fireflies at Stony Brook University Staller Center (Nicolls Road, Stony Brook) on Sunday, Nov. 3, at 4 p.m. Vaudeville-style performers Rob Williams and Casey Martin mix comedy and acrobatic skills such as juggling, cube spinning and stilt-walking. Price: $15.
The Wizard of Oz at BroadHollow Theatre Company (700 Hempstead Tpke., Elmont) on Saturday, Nov. 2, at 2 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 10, at noon. A live performance of the classic tale. Price: $10 in advance, $12 at the door.
Beauty and the Beast at BroadHollow BayWay Arts Center (265 E. Main St., East Islip) on Saturday, Nov. 2, Nov. 9, Nov. 16 and Nov. 23 at 2 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 24, at noon. A live performance of the beloved Disney tale. Price: $10 in advance, $12 at the door.
Bunnicula at John W. Engeman Theater (250 Main St., Northport) on Saturday, Nov. 2, at 11 a.m. and Sunday, Nov. 3 at 10:30 a.m. A musical adaptation of the children's book by Deborah and James Howe about a cat and dog who become convinced that the new family pet is a vampire bunny. Appropriate for all ages. Price: $15.
Disney on Ice: Let's Celebrate at Nassau Coliseum (1255 Hempstead Tpke., Uniondale) starting Nov. 5 through Nov. 10. Families can enjoy a live skating performance featuring lots of familiar Disney characters. Price: $15-$165.
Stinky Kids: The Musical at Studio Theatre (141 S. Wellwood Ave., Lindenhurst) on Saturdays at 2 p.m. starting Nov. 9 through Nov. 30. This musical performance tells the story of Britt, a little girl who never gets in trouble. When she accidentally gets a wad of gum stuck in her hair, she needs her friends' help before her parents find out. Price: $10 in advance, $12 at the door.

Stuart Little at LIU Tilles Center on Sunday, Nov. 17, at 2 p.m. A Dallas Children's Theater production based on the book by E.B. White, in which Stuart learns to survive in this super-sized world of humans and discovers the true meaning of family, loyalty and friendship. Appropriate for ages 4 and up. Price: $15-$23.
Annie Jr. at BroadHollow Theatre Company (700 Hempstead Tpke., Elmont) on Saturday, Nov. 23, and Saturday, Nov. 30, at 2 p.m. A shortened version of the classic musical. Price: $10 in advance, $12 at the door.
The Paper Bay Players: Hiccup Help! at John Drew Theater at Guild Hall (158 Main St., East Hampton) on Saturday, Nov. 23, at 2 p.m. A family-friendly performance of three numbers, including "Cookies," "Bicycle Race" and "A Perfect Picture." Price: $13 for children, $16 for adults.
