Family fun at the Long Island Game Farm
My husband and I made a pact that we weren't going to spend our summer weekends doing chores. Instead, we wanted to make the most of our time off by doing fun, family things.
This past weekend, we decided to take our daughter, Maggie, to the Long Island Game Farm in Manorville.
We tried the pony rides first before it got too crowded. They are $5 per ride (over the cost of admission which is $18.95 for adults, children under 2 are free).
Next, we went to the nursery where you can run around with baby goats and feed them milk ($3) from baby bottles. Maggie only wanted to hug them and didn't get why they ran away.
Old McDonald's Farm, a section which features pigs, cows, sheep, ducklings and more, was a great place to pet and feed some of the animals. You can purchase a large cup of food for the animals ($6). We even fed the giraffe carrots — a first for all of us!
There's also a train ride and tea cups, which are included with admission, and a carousel, which is $3.
Overall it was a great day. My two bits of mom advice: Hand sanitizer is a must and it's best to pack a lunch — there is a snack bar but it doesn't have many options.
