Long Island parents considering private school for their children might want to stop by a free private-school fair from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Garden City Hotel, 45 Seventh St., Garden City.

More than 30 area private schools are scheduled to participate, sending representatives to talk about a variety of independent, parochial and special programs.

Participating schools include Archbishop Molloy High School, Buckley Country Day School, East Woods School, Friends Academy, Gersh Academy, The Knox School, Long Island School for the Gifted, Portledge School, Ross School, Schechter School of Long Island, The Stony Brook School, The Waldorf School of Garden City and more.

The event is spearheaded by the 4-year-old Fusion Academy Woodbury, a one-to-one school — one teacher per student, with customized scheduling and support to serve dozens of students in grades 6 to 12. “We wanted to be able to create a resource for families all across Long Island to let them know what options are out there for their kids,” says Tiffany Belferder, head of school for Fusion Academy Woodbury. “We wanted to provide one space for them to learn about as many schools as possible.”

Author Shefali Tsabary is scheduled to be a guest speaker from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tsabary is author of “The Conscious Parent” and “The Awakened Family” and will talk about new ideas in mindfulness and emotional intelligence.

The event is free, but preregistration at LIPrivateSchoolFair.com is encouraged. For more information, call 516-364-5414.
