Science-themed performances on Long Island this weekend
If your children are into science and are looking for something different to do this weekend, you may want to check out these two performances.
On Saturday, Mr. Snide and his alter ego, Dr. Heckle, perform classic magic illusions using the tools of modern technology and explain the laws of physics that go along with them in "The Science of Magic," at 2 p.m. at the Van Nostrand Theatre at Suffolk County Community College (Crooked Hill Road) in Brentwood; $8, 631-851-6589, sunysuffolk.edu/spotlight.
At 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday, "Nosey Balloon Science With Mr. Mouse" is a handmade-puppet performance at Mills Pond House (660 Rte. 25A) in St.James from Katie's Puppets. Best for pre-K to third grade. Kids make their own puppets after performance; $9 per seat, 631-862-6575, stacarts.org.
