The Heckscher Museum of Art in Huntington has announced the top awards for “Long Island’s Best: Young Artists at The Heckscher Museum of Art.”

The four winners are:

Ricky Vargas, a senior at Valley Stream South High School, who received the Celebrate Achievement Best in Show Award for his drawing “Restraining Hatred.”

Shannon Culhane, a junior at Northport High School, received Second Place, Judith Sposato Memorial Prize for her painting “Release.”

Kristen Miciotta, a senior at Long Beach High School, received Third Place, the Hadley Prize, for “Sanguine.”

Gurjot Kaur, a senior at Hicksville High School, received Fourth Place for the work “Fragility,” a mixed media work.

The competition received a record 387 entries from 56 high schools across Suffolk and Nassau Counties. The juried selection narrowed the field to 84 works currently featured in a professionally mounted exhibit at Heckscher Museum, 2 Prime Ave., Huntington. The exhibition is on view through April 9.
