If your child has ever walked through the house belting out “Oliver, Oliver, never before has a boy asked for more,” you might be interested in a big-screen showing of the classic movie at 7 p.m. Nov. 26 at the Cinema Arts Centre, 423 Park Ave., Huntington.

“Oliver!” won the Academy Award for best picture of 1968. It’ll be shown as part of the monthly Musicals: Stage to Screen series. It was chosen for the November slot because the concepts of family and counting one’s blessings are appropriate themes for the Thanksgiving and December holiday season, says Brett Sherris of Reel Entertainment Inc., curator of the series.

“It’s the story of an orphan who effectively finds his family,” Sherris says. “The whole idea of the series was to give children the opportunity to see the films on a large screen, the way they were originally meant to be seen. I first saw ‘Oliver!’ at Radio City Music Hall when I was 8 years old.”

Tickets are $11, $7 for students and seniors, and $4.50 for children younger than 12.

Future films in the series include “My Fair Lady” on Dec. 26 and “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” on Jan. 29. For more information, call 631-423-7610 or visit cinemaartscentre.org.
