Kidsday: Community service ideas
If you're looking for ways to give back, here are some ideas. First, you can tutor underprivileged kids. For example, we did some research and found a tutoring organization called NYC Service (nycservice.org). It's a one-on-one tutoring service for low-income families. For this opportunity, you must be in high school and have transportation to the tutoring center (check the website for one closest to you).
Second, you can read to kids in hospitals. New York Presbyterian Hospital offers a volunteer service (nyp.org/ volunteer) in which volunteers are asked to assist for at least four hours a week with a variety of services. Long Island hospitals may have this program too, check with ones in your area.
Third, you can visit people in assisted-living centers. If the facility allows it, you could bring your pet to visit the residents. You can do activities with them such as arts and crafts.
Fourth, you can help out at a summer camp. Hofstra's Reach program allows you to work with special-needs children.
Fifth, you can work at an animal hospital. Many animal hospitals allow you to donate money or time to help rescue pets.
I hope you will think about giving back to your community.
Helping with the chickens
My aunt and uncle have three chickens. Their names are Gertrude, Specks and Red. Specks is black-and-white spotted, Red is brick red, and Gertrude also is red.
Chickens can be very noisy at times, but you're usually able to ignore it. My aunt and uncle have two dogs, so we keep the coop closed as much as possible.
When I went into the coop, I had so much trouble picking up the chickens, but my uncle came and did it for me. I took a chicken, put it in my arms lightly, and took a bunch of pictures in order to find the perfect one.
I like chickens because they are smart, they provide for humans and they make funny noises. I also like observing their behavior and their lifestyle. I would love to have chickens of my own, but I feel like it might be too much work to clean the coop, and worry about getting the eggs every day. I like the fact that my aunt and uncle have chickens, because when I visit I get to take care of them.

Papa's Burgeria
Today I went on coolmathgames.com to play Papa's Burgeria. To play Papa's Burgeria you have to choose your character. Then, they show you how to play and you start serving customers. You get new customers along the way, and you rank them based on their happiness. I wasn't that good at the game, but I still had fun.
I don't care if a game is easy or hard. I just want to have fun. I think you should try it.
