Kidsday poll: Helmets for girls’ lacrosse players?

Have you ever been scared you may get a concussion playing your favorite sport? Well, I know I have been scared that it can happen to me. Wearing the right protective equipment can prevent these types of things from happening. Wearing a helmet could greatly reduce the chance of a concussion or head injury.
Right now girls’ lacrosse players are not required to wear helmets. I surveyed 168 fifth-graders and asked them, “Do you think that girls’ lacrosse players should be required to wear helmets?” Here are the results:
YES: 140
NO: 28
As you can see, it is safety first for us. Why risk injury when a helmet can take away some of the risk? Some say that girls might get more aggressive, but that is why the game has referees.
