Kidsday talks with Alex Hook and Carson Rowland from Nick's 'I am Frankie'

We went to the Nickelodeon offices in the Viacom building in Manhattan recently to meet Carson Rowland and Alex Hook. They star in the hit show “I Am Frankie.” Carson stars as Cole Reyes and Alex stars as Frankie Gaines. We like this show so much.
“I Am Frankie” is about an android that was created in a lab by her mom. Frankie has to disguise herself as a human so she doesn't get kidnapped by the evil scientist Kingston. Kingston's children are Frankie's best friends Cole and Dayton.
Meeting and interviewing them was so much fun because we could see that besides being so great on the show together, they are very good friends off the set as well. Alex also told us that she and Dayton (Nicole Nelson) are best friends off the set, too.
We asked them about being cast for this show and both Alex and Carson told us they were very excited to get their parts. Alex and Carson told us about pranks they played backstage. They also said that it once took 12 hours to film one episode because some scenes had to be shot five to 10 times. They added that one fight scene took nine hours to shoot and it was a battle between Alex's characters Frankie and Eliza (Frankie's evil clone and Alex plays both parts!).
We asked Alex how challenging it was to be the main star of the show and she told us that it is amazing. She added, “It comes with a lot of hard work. But I love it. It’s totally worth it because in the end it is very rewarding. I have to put in a little more time than some other people, or I have a couple more lines, but you know what, my brain adapts to it.”
Carson said that being a star on a Nickelodeon show is just the best! He added, “We look to see our performance, and it is so great that it is enjoyed by so many kids. It’s definitely worth it, and so much fun.”
They told us so many interesting things that happen behind the scenes and how they prepare for their parts. We also found out that Carson likes to follow the script as it is written but Armani Barnett who plays Byron is very funny and is often off the script.
Meeting Alex and Carson was really fun, interesting and entertaining. Their season ending episode is this Friday at 8 p.m. on Nickelodeon. Don’t miss it!
