Remember the television comedy “Laverne & Shirley”? The beloved duo of Penny Marshall and Cindy Williams are reuniting on screen for their first appearance together in a scripted TV show in more than 30 years during an upcoming guest appearance on Nickelodeon’s sitcom “Sam & Cat.”
Marshall and Williams will appear with younger comedy duo Jennette McCurdy and Ariana Grande for an episode in which the latter are being forced to change the name of their new babysitting service because it is too similar to the fictional “Salmon Cat” TV show from the ’70s. Roommates and co-workers Sam and Cat must track down the show’s original creators (played by Marshall and Williams) and resolve the older women’s three-decade-long feud.
"Sam & Cat" airs at 8 p.m. Saturdays and its series premiere on June 8, 2013 drew more than 4 million viewers. The episode with Marshall and WIlliams has already taped and is expected to air in the fall.
"Laverne & Shirley" aired from 1976 to 1983 and was the story of roommates who worked in the "Shotz Brewery" in Milwaukee.
