Music-loving children of all ages have the chance to audition for the Long Island Children's Choir (LICC). The chorus offers children opportunities to experience singing and is designed to enhance their musical education.

There are three choral ensembles in the LICC: Prelude, for grades 1-4; Harmonia, for intermediate and advanced singers in grades 5-12; and Lyric, for advanced singers in grades 7-12. Children must audition, and teacher recommendations are required.

"The Long Island Children's Choir is already making an impact, having performed for an audience at a New York Islanders game in January, and we have big plans on the horizon for each of our ensembles in the months ahead," said Jennifer Shaer, co-founder of LICC. Performances at the Dix Hills Performing Arts Center and at a Ducks baseball game are scheduled for 2014.

Tuition starts at $225 with financial assistance for those who qualify.

Auditions will take place Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 6-8:30 p.m. at Five Towns College (305 N. Service Rd., Dix Hills). You must register your singer at lichildrenschoir.org to schedule the 5-10 minute audition slot.
