Long Island kids have fun at Strawberry Festival

The annual Strawberry Festival in North Bellmore kicked off Thursday night, with fun and festivities continuing through Sunday evening. Children (and adults) from all over Long Island played games to win prizes, screamed with excitement on the rides and ate some gooey fried Oreos and of course, plenty of strawberry confections.
This was my first year attending the Strawberry Festival and it was a lot of fun. We met our friends there who also have a 1-year-old and we were excited to have them go on some of the rides together. Much to our dismay, they were too short for the height requirements. It didn't bother Maggie (below, left) and her friend Emerson that much -- these days they'd rather run around than sit still.
While Maggie and Emmy weren't able to enjoy the rides, other Long Island kids had a blast. Here, they share some of their favorite things about the Strawberry Festival:
John Downey, 4, of Wantagh and his friend Sami Zebersky, 4, of Bellmore told me they loved the swing and strawberry rides.
"We liked the swings and the duck game," said twins Bridget and Keely Dwyer, 4, of Floral Park, pictured below as they played the Lucky Duck game.
Kameron Thompson, 3, and his dad (below) played the basketball game.
"I like the prize my mommy won for me playing Whack-a-Mole,'" said Taylor Elkin, 4, of Freeport who is pictured below with her mother. "I also liked the big slide and the chocolate-covered strawberries were delicious."
