The Long Island Music Hall of Fame is looking for nominations for the 2019 Music Educator of Note.

Recognizing music educators for their outstanding achievement in helping children explore their musical abilities, the award, which has been given out since 2007, is open to educators who teach in public, private or regional schools in Brooklyn, Queens, Nassau and Suffolk counties.

Music teachers serve an important purpose, says Ernie Canadeo, Long Island Music Hall of Fame’s chairman. "Music and the arts are an integral part of the students' education," he says. "And, with cuts in funding, it’s become more important than ever to have terrific teachers who can cultivate and motivate young musicians.”

Nominations must be received by Sept. 30. Applications can be found at www.limusichalloffame.org/scholarshipsgrants.
