The Long Island Children's Museum in Garden City is hosting a Mad Hatter Party on  Aug. 7, with activities based on Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland."

The party will games, Wonderland crafts, face-painting, costumed characters and a crazy hat contest, as well as tea and light refreshments.

Kids and their families will be able to create hats and join in a parade to show off their creations before the Queen of Hearts. A grand prize basket, provided by Whole Foods, will be bestowed on the lucky winner. You'll also design your own flamingo mallets to test your skills at croquet and other themed games, become a Cheshire Cat as you design your own lingering "grin" or choose another Wonderland image in the face-painting parlor. After meeting and posing with Wonderland characters, you can sit down to a cup of tea as you watch a performance by the Queen of Hearts' court jester.

The Mad Hatter Party will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. Tickets cost $20 and are available online at licm.org or by calling 516-224-5802. Please note, ticket donations are fully tax deductible and support the Museum’s exhibits, programs and performances.
