The Menurkey – a menorah shaped like a turkey created by a 9-year-old boy from Manhattan – has been a huge hit, his father told Newsday.

“They’ve been selling like crazy,” says Anthony Weintraub, father of Asher. They’ve sold more than 2,000 plaster Menurkeys to celebrate the fact that Hanukkah and Thanksgiving overlap this year.

Asher Weintraub created a 3-D prototype for the menorah using a computer program he’d learned called Tinkercad. In addition to being featured in Newsday in August, the menorah has been featured in The New York Times and the Wall Street Journal and on National Public Radio, Weintraub says.

The menorahs sell for $50 each. The proceeds of the “pop-up” campaign will allow the Weintraubs to buy Asher, now in the fourth-grade, the 3-D printer he’s been asking for, Dad says.
