Hey moms, looking for a night out? I know I am -- I'm exhausted, but forcing myself to have fun always ends well.
National Mom's Nite Out, a free evening filled with pampering, refreshments, entertainment, fashion and beauty services, is taking place on Thursday, May 9 from 5-8 p.m. at Simon malls across the country.
This year, National Mom's Nite Out is sponsored by Rethink Varicose Veins, an educational campaign led by a coalition of medical societies and sponsored by the global health care products company Covidien. Take a quick self-assessment at the event to determine your risk of varicose veins and you'll be automatically entered to win a spa getaway weekend at the Miraval Arizona Resort & Spa, Nov. 14-17, 2013.
Here's a rundown of what you can expect at the three malls around Long Island participating in the event:
Roosevelt Field, Garden City: The first 250 women who register at the event will receive a Mom’s Nite Out swag bag with freebies from several participating Roosevelt Field retailers, including Joe Fresh, LUSH Fresh Handmade Cosmetics, Yankee Candle and more. The event will feature a cookbook signing with chef and Food Network star Alexandra “Alex” Guarnaschelli, as well as a performance and CD signing by Wind-up Records artist Jillette Johnson. Guarnaschelli, winner of The Next Iron Chef: Redemption and star of Food Network’s popular Chopped series, will sign copies of her newly released cookbook, “Old-School Comfort Food,” at 6 p.m. in North Court. Guests must purchase the cookbook from the Sur La Table at Roosevelt Field to have it signed at the event. Johnson will perform in North Court at 7 p.m., followed by an autograph signing. FYE at Roosevelt Field will be selling preorders of her soon-to-be-released debut album, “Water In A Whale.” At the Mom's Lounge, guests can enjoy Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee, food samplings, reggae music, giveaways and more.
Walt Whitman Shops, Huntington Station: Starting at 5 p.m., the first 200 attendees to register at Simon Guest Services will receive a free swag bag. There will be a fashion show casting call for women of all sizes, ages 21 and older, in the Lord & Taylor court. You must register at the event by 6 p.m. for a chance to walk the runway during the 7 p.m. charitable fashion show featuring Lord & Taylor apparel. WKJY Radio / 98.3 FM will provide entertainment from 5-7 p.m. and Tourneau will serve complimentary champagne, chocolates and cookies. Additional events include: Express makeovers from Sephora, hand and arm massages, and facial treatments from LUSH Fresh Handmade Cosmetics and caramel and truffle samplings at Godiva Chocolatier.
Smith Haven Mall, Lake Grove: Moms will be treated to mini-makeovers, food and drink samples from local restaurants, a fashion show, style and beauty advice, exclusive sales and more. The first 300 moms to register at the event will receive a free gift bag.
