'Mom's Nite Out' on Long Island

I can't remember the last time I took a night out for myself. So I was excited to hear about National Mom's Nite Out, an evening filled with pampering, refreshments, entertainment, fashion and beauty services on May 10, 2012 from 5-8 p.m. at Simon malls across the country.
"We believe that moms deserve 'A Nite Off,' so Simon malls are hosting a free event where they can enjoy their favorite destination in a new way," said Lisa Bennett, assistant vice president of business development at Simon Property Group.
Here's a rundown of what you can expect at the three malls around Long Island participating in the event:
Roosevelt Field Mall, Garden City: You'll be treated to performances by the cast of the Broadway show "Rock of Ages," 13-year-old singer and guitarist Charlie Dane, the Grace Thunderettes Dance/Twirl Champions and Five Towns College students. Shoppers will also enjoy tasting samples from Carlyle on The Green, Auntie Anne's Pretzels and Cinnabon, Jamba Juice and mini desserts from Seasons 52. There will be a fashion show presented by Macy's, Pandora, Aerosoles and others, along with beauty product demonstrations by Aveda, Essentials Plus and more. The first 250 attendees to register will receive a special gift bag, plus throughout the event you have a chance to win one of 30 prizes.
Walt Whitman Shops, Huntington Station: WKJY 98.3 FM will be on-site for a live broadcast. Attendees will be treated to a Wine Fest tasting by Barrel & Stills, a mini fashion show featuring looks by Francesca’s Collections, makeovers from Sephora and complimentary digital foot scans courtesy of The Walking Company. Food sampling will be provided by Legal Sea Foods and shoppers can participate in in-store events and special offers at Coach, Brighton Collectibles and more. Attendees who register will receive a special gift bag (while supplies last).
Smith Haven Mall, Lake Grove: Shoppers will be treated to individual consultations from Beach Bum Tanning and European Wax Center and information from American Cancer Society. You'll also enjoy food samples from Auntie Anne’s Pretzels, Godiva Chocolatier, Bobby’s Burger Palace, California Pizza Kitchen and Mosaic Grill, plus fashion shows featuring White House | Black Market, J. Jill, Coldwater Creek and LOFT with mini makeovers by Sephora, M·A·C, Bare Escentuals and more. The first 250 attendees to register will receive a special gift bag and throughout the event you have a chance to win one of 30 prizes.
