Getting to the point: Montauk is a great place to visit

Every August for the past few years I go to Montauk with my family. My mother’s birthday is in August, and we like to celebrate in Montauk. It is a beautiful place with a lot of activities for families. Surrounded by beautiful water, it has one of the oldest historical lighthouses in the United States.
For the past three years my family and I have stayed at the Kenny’s Tipperary Inn on Lake Drive. The hotel has a big swimming pool, fire pits to make s’mores, and a relaxing meditation garden. One of my favorite parts of the hotel are the hammocks located poolside. The hotel is walking distance to Montauk Harbor and the marina where all the fishing boats come in.
A popular place to go to is Hither Hills State Park. My family and I go directly to Hither Hills while we are waiting for the hotel room to be ready. They have a game room where you can play ping pong and pool. You could also bring your own boogie boards and use them at the beach. There is a playground and a baseball field. There also are campsites where you could go camping and sometimes have live entertainment, like magic shows.
Walking distance from the hotel is Uihlein's Marina. Here you could rent boats or take the Mon Tiki cruises, catamarans and fishing boats. My family and I one time did a sail and swim. It is a nice and relaxing ride. Then they anchor the boat, and you can jump off the boat and swim. We also rented a boat from Uihlein’s and went tubing. The captain of the boat will go as fast or slow as you like. Personally, I like to go fast. Renting the boats here is my favorite thing to do at Montauk.
One of our traditions is to go to Puff ‘n’ Putt. You can do mini golf there. There are a bunch of levels you can play. The last level is hard because you only get one try. You can also rent canoes and kayaks. There is a big lake that you can ride on. There are also paddleboats. My mom and I once raced each other on the paddleboats.
Every single year we go to the Montauk Lighthouse. You can walk all the way up to the top of the lighthouse for great views of the ocean. We learned a lot on keeping our oceans clean and recycling at the Montauk Lighthouse exhibit. Next to the lighthouse is Camp Hero where you can go hiking along the bluffs. Camp Hero is a former military base. Other things you can do at Camp Hero are ride horses, bike ride, and picnic along the beautiful bluffs of Montauk Point.
As you can see, there are so many things to see and do in Montauk. It's just a short drive away to a nice vacation spot. I hope my family continues to do this amazing trip. If you need even more places to go this fall for a weekend getaway, visit the website: onmontauk.com
