National Play-Doh Day is marked on Sept. 16, and to celebrate, Hasbro rounded up fun facts about this creatable, colorful childhood favorite. Each year, millions of children open a can of Play-Doh and are inspired to squish, mold, roll, cut and create characters, scenes, foods and more.
- More than 950 million pounds, or more than 2 billion cans, of Play-Doh have been squished and squashed since 1956.
- If you made a big ball of all the Play-Doh ever created, it would weigh more than 700 million pounds.
- You would need more than 631 million Play-Doh cans to circle all the way around the world.
- 172 pennies can fit into one Play-Doh can.
- Play-Doh is the No. 1 reusable modeling compound, with more than 100 million cans produced each year.
- Seven million Play-Doh Fun Factory play sets have been sold since 1999.
- There are three main ingredients in Play-Doh: water, flour and salt.
