Finn and Jake of the hit Cartoon Network series “Adventure Time” and Toothless from the DreamWorks movie “How to Train Your Dragon” will make their inaugural flights in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade this year.
Finn will be holding his sword; Toothless will have his giant wings folded in a landing pose.
Snoopy and SpongeBob have both been in the Thanksgiving parade in the past, but they'll be returning with brand new balloons. Snoopy will be accompanied by his pal Woodstock; SpongeBob will be wearing an elf hat this time around.
In honor of the convergence of Hannukah and Thanksgiving, a dreidel balloon will spin down the streets. And, in honor of the 75th anniversary of “The Wizard of Oz,” a giant hot air balloon will carry the Wizard himself.
The 87th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade steps off at 9 a.m. on the streets of Manhattan. More than 3 million spectators are expected in person, and more than 50 million viewers nationwide are expected to watch the parade from afar.
The remaining 11 character balloons include Buzz Lightyear, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, The Elf on the Shelf, Hello Kitty, Julius, Papa Smurf, Pikachu, Pillsbury Doughboy, Ronald McDonald, Sonic the Hedgehog and Spider-Man.
