Nickelodeon premieres new animated kids' TV show

Twin genies-in-training star in the new Nickelodeon animated preschool series called "Shimmer and Shine." It premieres at 7:30 p.m. Monday on Nick and the Nick Jr. channel.
The series follows twin genies Shimmer and Shine, who grant three wishes a day for their friend Leah. Sometimes they misinterpret what Leah wishes for and accidentally grant her wishes that escalate into a crazy adventure. In the end, the trio always makes things right.
In Monday's first episode, called "The Sweetest Thing," Leah wishes for help making cupcakes for her school bake sale and finds herself stuck with a giant birthday cake and some farm animals instead.
