Think the parents who hang out at your neighborhood playground are overbearing? See the new play “God of Carnage” at the Engeman Theater in Northport and it’ll make the parents you know seem downright sane.
The comedy is about two sets of parents whose kids were playing in the park. One of the kids hit the other in the face with a stick, injuring his front teeth. The parents attempt to civilly — sans kids — iron out how this should best be handled. The attempt rapidly spirals into an embarrassing battle between the couples (and sometimes even the spouses) in which they behave as childishly as their children. Tulips are yanked from their vase and thrown across the room, one wife physically attacks her hubby, and all the parents drink too much.
