At Save-A-Pet Animal Rescue, adopt puppies, kittens and bunnies
We went to this small house in Port Jefferson Station located right off Route 112. Inside, at Save-A-Pet Animal Rescue, there were kittens, puppies and bunnies that were so adorable! All of them were rescued or found, and all of them were up for adoption. There was even a fluffy German shepherd behind the desk that was also rescued. We were able to visit with all the animals, and then we interviewed the owner, Ms. Dori Scofield.
The first question we asked her was, why should people adopt puppies here, instead of going to a pet store? She said that most of them come from puppy mills and that they live in cages their entire lives, a very horrific experience. They are not properly taken care of, and many are sick.
We also asked her what was her favorite animal at Save a Pet, and she said it was a kitten named Baby Spice who has little sores in his inner ear. She is fostering him and, as with all the other animals, she is trying to find him a happy home with happy people.
We absolutely recommend going to Save-A-Pet and visiting Dori because she dedicates her time to saving animals' lives. We actually fell in love with the puppies while we were there. With the holiday season here, you should adopt a pet instead of buying one. It will save a life.
