When I got to read the book, "Shivers! The Pirate Who's Afraid of Everything," by Annabeth Bondor-Stone and Connor White (Harper Collins), I was really excited.

When I got home, I spent a half-hour reading 10-1/2 chapters, wondering if Shivers would ever survive the sharks swimming around his feet.

When I finally finished reading, I was cracking up. I read that he was afraid of street signs, water, clouds and spoons. How weird is that?

Now I want to be a pirate, sailing the seven seas, fighting squids, and climbing up the Statue of Liberty like Shivers did, along with his friend, Margo, and his fish, Albee.

The book was hilarious and, of course, terrifying at times. I would recommend this book to any 7- to 10-year-olds who love pirates and hate eating snails.
