Spreading holiday cheer at the hospital

Giggles, smiles, having fun -- those are all things that happen at St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center in Smithtown. On any given holiday, my family and a friend visit the hospital to spread a little cheer. My sister works at that hospital, so we go and meet her first. Going there is a lot of fun. Let me explain why.

I can always count on the patients enjoying telling jokes. There are some jokes I don't get, but I still laugh anyway. During our holiday visits, we hand out pictures or cards to help the patients feel better.

It's a win-win situation. The patients feel happy and we feel happy because of them. Check if your local hospital would allow you to do this!
