Newborns at St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center get red hats for Valentine's Day

Newborns at St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center were gifted red handmade hats, just in time for Valentine's Day.
The hats were given by the American Heart Association's Little Hats, Big Hearts campaign to raise awareness and celebrate healthy babies and mothers throughout February, which is Heart Health month.
Congenital heart defects are the most common type of birth defects in the country. The goal of the Little Hats, Big Hearts campaign is to provide resources and inspire mothers to lead heart-healthy lives. Newborns will continue to receive red hats through Valentine's Day.
“We are always happy to receive such thoughtful gifts for our precious newborns here at St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center,” said Neila Hernandez, director of maternity services, in a recent news release. “We are even more enthusiastic when we can partner with quality organizations like the American Heart Association to help raise awareness about such an important issue.”
St. Catherine of Siena's maternity department is baby-friendly designated, which offers new moms breast-feeding support before and after delivery.
