Kids on the East End who want to learn about horseback riding but can’t afford the fees are encouraged to apply for the Stony Hill Stables Foundation’s annual equestrian training scholarships.

The foundation is hoping to grant five scholarships to residents of Montauk, Amagansett, East Hampton, Sag Harbor, Southampton or Westhampton.

The scholarships will be awarded in the following training levels: beginner’s lessons ages 5 and older; young riders/ horse camp ages 6 and older; short stirrup camp ages 6 and older; adult hunter ages 10 and older and dressage training ages 10 and older. A scholarship includes training lessons over a four-month or longer semester. It could include the lease of a pony/horse and boarding fees. Training includes hunter/jumper equitation or dressage training, horse care, clinics, and competitive show activity.
