Stop & Shop has launched a Free Fruit for Kids program in all of its stores, offering a free piece of fruit to kids ages 10 and younger while their parents or caregivers shop.
In-store signage and produce displays will direct customers to the free fruit that is available. Bananas will be offered to start and, later this fall, mandarin oranges.
“We hope to help shape healthier habits in our tiniest of customers by offering a convenient and naturally sweet snack to enjoy as they shop with their parents,” Julie Hersey, nutritionist for Stop & Shop, said in a news release.
