Survey in our preschool says kids prefer art over music

Almost every kid I know loves the arts, but when does that love begin? I asked the preschoolers at John Street School in Franklin Square which of these two things they liked more: playing instruments or drawing. Here are my results:

Art: 22

Instruments: 11

Lucky for us, in our school we don’t have to choose. We can draw and also learn an instrument.

I asked the kids who chose art what they liked to use to draw pictures, and what they liked to draw. Most kids like to use markers, and to draw robots and people.

I asked the kids who chose music what their favorite instrument was. Most said the drums and guitar.

My brother, Kenny, who is a preschooler at John Street, chose music, and his favorite instrument is the guitar. I myself would choose music, and my favorite instrument is drums.
