My family and I participate in a summer camp for kids at Christ the King Roman Catholic Church in Commack. The program is Vacation Bible School, and I was a volunteer. Kids entering kindergarten to sixth grade in September can enroll in the program, and anybody older than that has the chance to volunteer. Every year the program follows a different theme.

This year it was weird animals. We searched the globe for the most special, rare, never-before-seen animals. The program is one week, and this year it happened in early July.

Each day, kids learned a new Bible story and participated in several activities related to the story. We made crafts, ate snacks and learned songs about the stories. We also played games in the gym and classrooms.

At the end of the week, we even were able to sing the songs we learned throughout the week at Mass.

Maybe next year I will see you there. You can register or volunteer online at ctkrcc.org
