If you're a parent with an Elf on the Shelf, you probably have a love-hate relationship with that mischievous little guy. On this #WarrantWednesday, it seems the New York State Police do, too.

Each Wednesday, police departments around the country post to Twitter and Facebook using #WarrantWednesday as a way to alert the community about a wanted individual. To keep up with today's theme -- and spread some holiday cheer -- the N.Y. State Facebook page posted an image of "Trooper Elf" stating: "Wanted by the New York State Police."

The description explains "Trooper Elf," of the North Pole, is wanted for overall mischief after weeks of wreaking havoc across the state. Police stations have experienced "missing candy and misplaced Stetsons" and in return, "Trooper Elf" left behind new holiday decorations and a festive spirit. The post states: "If located, please thank him for spreading holiday cheer."

Facebook commenters also joined in the fun.

"Yes! That's him! He tried to climb through my window last night. Such a naughty boy," wrote Dee Dee Cardone.

"Thanks for the laugh this morning A.M. Keep them coming!," wrote Carla Spring Meyers.

"He's at my house. Come move him tonight so I can go to bed," wrote Colin Riley.
