Weekend family fun on Long Island: 'Frozen on Ice,' 'Beauty and the Beast' and more

Looking for things to do with the kids this weekend? From "Frozen on Ice" and "Beauty and the Beast" to nature walks, magic shows and more, there is plenty happening on Long Island. Here are my top five picks for family-friendly activities during the weekend:
"Disney's Beauty and the Beast" at CM Performing Arts Center (931 Montauk Hwy., Oakdale). On Saturday, at 11 a.m., the musical fairy tale based on the 1991 Disney film tells the story of an enchanted prince in the shape of a hideous beast and the intelligent woman who enters his life and must learn to love him if that curse is ever to be broken. Price: $12.
Family Nature Walks: Long Island 1000 Years Ago at Bailey Arboretum (194 Bayville Rd. and Feeks Lane, Lattingtown). Learn how people lived on Long Island long ago and test yourself on the skills that were needed to survive, Sunday at 2 p.m. Price: $10 suggested donation.
"Mike Super: Magic and Illusion" at Staller Center for the Arts (Stony Brook University, Nicolls Road, Stony Brook). A murder-mystery adventure reminiscent of the game of "Clue," with illusion and magic, Sunday at 4 p.m.. Price: $15.
"The Science of Magic" at Van Nostrand Theatre, Suffolk County Community College (Crooked Hill Road, Brentwood). Magic illusions with Mr. Snide and his alter ego, Dr. Heckle, who performs the same feats using tools of modern technology while explaining laws of physics, Saturday at 2 p.m. Price: $8.
"Disney on Ice: Frozen" at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum (1255 Hempstead Tpke., Uniondale). Kids' favorite royal sisters are appearing on ice, along with Olaf and more, Friday at 3:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.; Saturday at 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.; and Sunday at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Price: $25-$250.
