Adam: Nice neighborhood

Adam Lippes’ design studio is in West Chelsea, and it’s this neighborhood that inspired his spring show. “I was mesmerized watching our ‘runway in the sky,’ the High Line…the juxtaposition of the strong colors of the individuals passing by against the fresh and light backdrop,” he said in program notes.
In homage to his view and the “confident woman who knows how to make an effortless statement,” Lippes' runway was very good. We suspect the clever seagull print that turned up on dresses and tops – and was done up in rhinestones on a few pretty frocks – will fly out of stores next season. The softest, short-sleeved sweatshirt was glorified by a standup, embellished collar and was cute and comfy when paired with a neon ¾ sweatpant. There was lots of soft pink – a swingy satin pajama-like suit, and a garden of flowers graphically growing on sleeves and pants. All in all, a wardrobe winner, no matter what neighborhood you live in.
