Albright's front row at Vera Wang show
Yeah, yeah, Beyoncé, Serena Williams and Kim Kardashian all sat front row at Vera Wang's show Tuesday. Paparazzi thronged, tweets flew into the stratosphere.
But what about the classy blonde in the leather skirt? None other than former Secretary of State (and former LI mom and housewife) Madeleine Albright, who sat front row, virtually ignored, with her daughter and young granddaughter. (And yep, she rocked that leather skirt.)
"I think she's wonderful," Albright said of her pal, Wang. "When women are economically empowered, societies are better off. It provides more stability. And Vera is a great example of that."
And what does she think of all the fashion week hoopla?
"We've had a particularly meaningful week, talking about 9/11 and the scrapes of America," she said. "And we've all discussed the importance of looking forward." She gestures to the crowds. "There's a wonderful mood and spirit here. We need renewal and resilience and that's what I see. I hadn't expected that."
