At Rachel Roy less is more
Rachel Roy kept it simple and pretty at her presentation on the outdoor promenade at Avery Fisher Hall. Her notion: Romantic minimalism.
Kimono-like silhouettes, boxy shapes and origami folds gave the collection an Asian flavor. There were lots of black-and-white, easy fabrics, such as washed silk and virtually no embellishment, save for a chiffon flower pinned to an asymmetric jacket lapel, hence the lineups' cool, clean vibe.
Standouts included a smashing linen flax silk dress – Victoria Justice very macramé – over a zinnia underpiece, some smart jackets and several styles of shorts…cute. But every girl needs a little glamour, and it was here – a gown of glossy satin with a portrait collar featured a stunning spray of flowers.
