The boys at Badgley Mischka had a story to tell about a lady circa 1920-ish. She was very fashionable and took a journey on a yacht wearing tweed pieces – a fitted trumpet skirt with a flared hem and a fit-like-a-glove sheath. She'd packed a sporty short set, an ethereal white maxi dress, a polka dot bra and pant ensemble, and a cloche hat or two.

So what happens? So as not to draw it out… she jumps off the yacht and turns into a mermaid.

At which time her look becomes a bit glitzier and more ethereal. There were floaty gowns, some with fin-like flutters at the hip. A curve-hugging navy number – excellent -- featured slits at the shoulder. Watery floral prints on chiffon and a luscious lavender confection with a plunging neckline and a bit of silver embroidery were dreamy. And of course, there were pearls, (she’s a mermaid, for goodness sake)– multiple strands were attached to one white gown.

It’s a good story and it was a very good day for these gentlemen who opened their first Manhattan boutique at 64th and Madison as well. The party was mobbed, the champagne flowing and the boys were all smiles.
