Bibhu Mohapatra: reflections of the modern woman

A stage in the center of the room was filled with models and mirrors for Bibhu Mohapatra's Spring 2012 collection show, which, according to the designer, "embodies the spirit of the modern woman, who is confident, daring, playful and erotically charged."

The artful collection hit all those adjectives, from dainty pink, crepe dresses in feminine cuts to polished pants and sheer tops to show-stopping chiffon gowns in glittery gold, turquoise and tangerine.

Mohapatra, dubbed by many this year's "upcoming designer to watch," still had observers rushing in just minutes before his presentation ended. If that's what he can do with a dark room and a little square stage, it will be interesting to see what he could do to a runway in the future.
