Carmen Marc Valvo: Endless summer

Casual elegance seemed the theme of Carmen Marc Valvo’s distinctly pared-down show (not even a whiff of frou-frou) held early Saturday evening at the NASDAQ Marketsite in Time Square. Here, a silvery sequined T-shirt and cotton tap short ensemble coexisted with a gossamer “pink lemonade” silk satin pleated gown (gorgeous!).
It was all about summery ease (in fact, Seals & Croftts’ classic hit “Summer Breeze” accompanied much of ths show) so nothing was fussy, though there was plenty to wear to a special event. A streamlined tank dress was embroidered with pearls, a striped sequin maillot was topped by a crisp striped cocktail skirt, a buttery chiffon confection could easily go red carpet or barefoot on the beach.
Women love Valvo because “his clothes fit,” said stunning Vanessa Williams, wearing a body-conscious Valvo creation. To underscore the show’s summery vibe, Valvo took his runway walk…wearing flip-flops.
