Cynthia Rowley: Confetti prints and grand silhouettes
Designer Cynthia Rowley chose 5 Beekman St. in Manhattan for her Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2013 presentation, a grand but abandoned building with flaking walls and floors of elaborate balconies leading up to a glass and iron skylight ceiling.
Confetti fell from above throughout the presentation, bringing the space back to life and mirroring the shimmery fabrics on the models, as if some pieces had fallen and stuck to the clothes to form their colorful, metallic foil prints.
Exaggerated silhouettes and peplum shapes along with wide leg pants, shorts and flared sleeves were fun yet polished and paired with detailed, strappy heels.
Also in the lineup were Rowley's sexy surfer girl wet suits, like the one Lindsay Lohan wore in a short film called “First Point” in June.
