“Hiiiii, everybody,” chimed Victoria Beckham, who first mingled with a small group of fashion types at a swanky Fifth Avenue manse before she narrated her show early Sunday morning.  On shiny black floors accessorized with a giant topiary, Beckham, dressed in black (natch, her own label) and wearing Brian Atwood’s metallic copper towering platform stilettos (so did the models) could not have been more earnest. “I really wanted this collection to celebrate women’s curves.”  Mission accomplished with this mod, ladylike collection of beautifully made clothes.

The all-dress show opened with parachute silk numbers – some saturated in color, such as violet and mandarin. These suggested the body without revealing it.  For daytime chic, soft “Cadillac pink” crepe pretties with exposed zippers highlighted by pewter bands were sweet and vampy.  An iridescent opal fitted dress glowed as if touched by a magic wand.  And Beckham noted that her white cotton waffle ribbon strap dress “gives you shape” and, er, holds you in.   Since Beckham is not known for her girth,  we’re not sure how she could be sure, but we’d be willing to give it a try.

Also, brand new, a Victoria Beckham handbag collection – lust-worthy.
