What do you get when you combine discarded shipping containers, food and fashion?
One of Brooklyn’s most interesting day trips.
Dekalb Market, located at 138 Willoughby St. in Downtown Brooklyn, is an outdoor collection of food, clothing and other retailers craftily housed in 22 salvaged shipping containers. The market will be uprooted in early fall, so this summer may be your last chance to visit the space.
Need more incentive? The market is hosting a Bastille Day Bash this Saturday from 6 to 10 p.m. There will be burlesque dancers, live music, a French themed photo booth and a baguette eating contest in addition to specials from food and beer vendors. Tickets are $12 in advance at dekalbmarket.com and $15 at the door.
