The lines were nonexistent at the DKNY sample sale — a welcome surprise — Monday morning at 260 Fifth Ave. in Manhattan as shoppers perused the first discounted offerings.
The sale, on through Saturday, is a 15-minute walk from Penn Station and features a promising selection of spring and summer styles.
Among the steals for just $30: A knee-length, color-blocked pleated skirt, originally $245, (wear it with a crisp white button-down and classic blazer), floral denim and cork-wedge strappy sandals.
Eyelet lace dresses and printed chiffon minis made us yearn for those first warm days of spring. Dresses were going for $85, handbags for $75, boots and sweaters for $50 and blouses for $40.
For those still thinking winter, faux-fur shrugs are $125 and come in daring leopard or chocolate brown variations. A limited supply of lightweight down jackets also hung on the racks for $125.
There were slim pickings for the guys, but pinstripe pants ($30), super-soft cotton T-shirts ($30) and a selection from rocker Bono's eco-friendly label, Edun, were highlights.
