A new boutique has opened its doors on the popular Main Street shopping strip in Huntington. This one, a stop for kids looking for the trendiest clothes and parents who'd prefer their growing wardrobes to remain versatile.
“We always say, if you don’t want to spend a lot, you don’t have to spend a lot. We basically go from sportswear in women’s clothing to special occasion,” says Janet Rigney, owner of Expressions Boutique. The shop carries clothes that can do double duty, with styles for both women and children: an outfit that'll take you from vacation to lounge to party.
“I have casual dress wear and casual lounge wear that you can go out in and look good, but be casual,” says Rigney.
For girls, Expressions carries togs for newborns to kids’ sportswear of all ages, as well as Christening, Communion and holiday dresses. For boys, clothes start at newborn and go up to size 3.
“We’re very well known for baby gifts,” says Rigney, who opened Little Expressions children’s clothing store in Colts Neck, New Jersey 26 years ago and later added women’s clothing.
In accessories, there are diaper bags, blankets, socks, costume jewelry, pocketbooks, hats and scarves.
As she settles into her new Long Island emporium, Rigney will tailor her inventory to what people seem to favor here, while sticking to a moderate to high-end price point, where you can find shirts for $60, but also higher priced, unique items.
Now in stock is casual wear from Johnny Was, which runs between $400 and $500, and boho print tops and dresses with flowy sleeves and organza from Arrata.
In the fall, Expressions expects to carry distinctive vintage denim jackets with Louis Vuitton and Gucci designer fabric incorporated into them.
Prices start at $50 for a woman’s top or young girl’s dress to $600 for a buttery leather jacket.
Expressions Boutique is located at 265 Main St., in Huntington. The boutique is open Monday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; 631-419-2698.
