“This is my Brazil,” said Francisco Costa, showing off his stunning new Calvin Klein dress line for Macy’s huge summer campaign “A Magical Journey to Brasil.”

By “his Brazil,” Costa was talking about sticking to his mimimalist guns (no loud colors, prints here) and basing the collection on the country’s modern architecture and natural environment.

Though the dresses will sell for $135 to $180 at select stores (including Roosevelt Field and Manhasset), the fabrics look far richer--one of the things the Brazilian-born Costa said he loves about the line during a recent editors’ preview. Plus they’re extremely versatile, he noted, with something like the basic shift dress able to go from the beach to the office to evening with a simple change of accessories.

Colors include a gentle yellow, a soft pinkish-coral and a warm cocoa, along with Klein signature neutrals like gray and black. A lovely touch--the thinnest little belts (really a thick thread) with silver clasps.

Meanwhile Costa’s not the only designer to lend a hand to the Brazil promotion. Macy’s has just about everyone in on the act--they’ve got a preview set for next week so more on that later.
