Heat wilts models at Candela show

It wasn’t a wardrobe malfunction that tainted designers Natalia Kuks-Jacobs and Gabriela Perezutti-Isacson’s sparkling Candela presentation in the tents on Thursday afternoon. It was the AC that faltered (as in ceased to work) leaving models, who stood around in leaf-backed vignettes, looking wilted and sweaty.
Although makeup artists had to fix running mascara and dab beads of perspiration from pretty foreheads, truth told, the lively array of sporty contemporary clothes beat the heat.
This is the stuff cool girls will want next spring – denim beaded shorts or more fun longer silk boy shorts with an elephant paisley print, a saucy tangerine cotton slither dress with a macramé back, a gorgeous leather mini topped by a cotton canvas jacket with aforementioned elephant hand beaded on the back. Such verve! The small collection – only 12 looks – was very hot…despite the heat.
