Meet Hal Rubenstein, InStyle magazine’s charming fashion director and author of gorgeous new tome, “100 Unforgettable Dresses,” (Harper Design, $35) who will be at the Donna Karan store at the Americana Manhasset (part of the center’s Champions for Charity initiative) on December 1 from 6:30 – 8:30 PM.
The book, which you can buy there and he’ll sign, is a delicious and satisfying fashion read featuring stunning images that conjure eras and memories including Caroline Bessette-Kennedy’s spare Narciso Rodriguez wedding gown, Elizabeth Hurley’s legendary safety-pin dress by Gianni Versace, and even Ginger Roger’s troublesome ostrich-feather frock from the set of “Top Hat.”
There will also be a fashion presentation with Rubenstein’s favorite picks from the Donna Karan resort collection. All this fun for a good cause too: 25% of sales from the evening will be donated in support of the Diabetes Research Institute. For more info call: 516) 869-0500.
