Jason Wu has shown his collection downtown for the past few seasons but this time around he moved on up to Park Avenue to present his beautifully tailored, cohesive collection of sportswear and evening looks.

The irony of course, is that Wu, who famously dressed Michelle Obama for the inaugural ball twice, showed on Friday, in the very space where Oscar de la Renta, the go-to first lady guy for many others, presented for years. Is the torch being passed? Some pundits suggest it.  We’ll see.

So what’s new for Wu? The color palette is simple: black, white, red and a touch of purple. The tailoring is wicked sharp. Returning to his feminine roots, Wu’s foxy ladies wear plenty of it – there were fox pockets and strong-shouldered fox-fronted vests that read ladylike yet bold.

Ever hear of a sexy turtleneck? Wu’s are – they feature strategically placed sheer strips (we could see the tattoo on one model’s rib cage). Skirts were accordion pleated, cocktail dresses a riot of ostrich feathers to tickle the fancy. Gossamer light snakeskin sheer trenches were sporty yet serious.

Wu loves a peplum, and in its newest iteration -- short in front, floor grazing in the back, killer in red, worn over precision tailored stovepipe pants -- we love it too.
